The new program also includes specific skills that pertain to hockey, ringette, speed skating and figure skating. Exciting news - CanSkate just got better!! The Advanced CanSkate session is for skaters who have already completed badge #2 in the CanSkate program.

The CANSkate program is a learn to skate program focused on teaching basic skating skills like skating forward and backwards, stops, turns, spins and jumps. Some of the best skaters in the world learned to skate with CanSkate including Olympic figure skaters, Olympic speed skaters, men’s and women’s Olympic hockey players and NHL players. It provides kids with the best foundation for figure skating and hockey and introduces a healthy, life long activity at an early age. CSA approved Hockey helmets are mandatory for all CanSkate and Pre-CanSkate Programs. ParaSport and Recreation PEI is excited to offer a brand new CanSkate Sledge Program in partnership with Skate Canada Prince Edward Island, Sherwood Figure Skating Club, and Summerside Figure Skating Club. This is the fast track program that leads into our “Rising Stars” program for figure skating as well as improves speed and agility for skaters who aspire to move into hockey, ringette, or speed skating.
