Sobonfu Somé is one of the foremost voices in African spirituality. She travels the world on a healing mission, sharing the rich spiritual life and culture of her native land Burkina Faso, West Africa.

These transformative events have supported the continued growth of strong community-based rituals throughout the Western North Carolina region. SOIL hosted grief rituals with renowned African spiritual teacher Sobonfu Somé in 2013 and 2015. Sobonfu Somé is one of the foremost voices in African spirituality to come to the West.

Sobonfu Somé (d. January 14, 2017 ) was a Burkinabe teacher and writer, specializing in topics of spirituality. Grief Ritual with Sobonfu Somé.

She wrote three books: her first, The Spirit of Intimacy, looks at relationships and intimacy through the lens of African spirituality and teachings. The Ritual is a soul-cleansing rite that clears away lingering clouds and festering wounds, lightens your soul, and helps you find your way back to wholeness, peace, and self acceptance.
