‎The husband-and-wife duo of Gay and Terry Woods got their beginning in 1969, when Terry Woods was still a member of Sweeney's Men. Available with an Apple Music subscription.

The resulting first version of the band was formed by ex-Fairport bassist Ashley Hutchings and built around two pairs of vocalists, Tim Hart and Maddy Prior and Gay & Terry Woods. They convalesced in a rented house near Winchester in Hampshire and worked on the album Liege & Lief.
