The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, and nature trips and is accessible year-round. Westside Trail The 1992 Metropolitan Greenspaces Master Plan identified an opportunity to create a regional trail on Portland's west side -- initially called the Beaverton Powerline Trail -- along Washington County's electrical power utility corridors.
Today, this route is the Westside Trail. The Lionel Hampton Trail meets the Westside Trail at Washington Park and continues west through mature forest and greenspace. The developing Westside Trail in Portland's western suburbs will be a 25-mile paved, multi-use path between the Willamette River to the north and the Tualatin River to the south. The West Side Trail will be the fourth trail to meet at the South Houser Street trail head. In 2012, several agencies joined together to create interpretive panels that would provide visitors a glimpse of the history that makes this trail so special. The trail is currently more than 10 miles round trip and is continuing to expand and improve each year. West Side Trail is a 1.9 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Maidsville, West Virginia that features a river and is good for all skill levels. Those who explore this trail know it was from a former railroad. Developed and managed by the Town of Yarmouth, the West Side Trail is a multi-use trail for hikers and walkers, runners, and off-road single track bicyclists that connects neighborhoods, office parks, preserves, and public beaches. Currently, 8 miles are complete with much of the route transversing a scenic Bonneville Power utility corridor. The Westside Trail offers an easy connection for the Southwest Connector Trail, a spur trail extending to Westview Cemetery. The West Side Trail, one of the four projects contained in the CAT Pearls of Progress grant, will connect the trail head on South Houser Street with the trail system inside Discovery Park. The West Side Trail is a multi-use trail that brings off-road single track bicycling to Yarmouth. The West Side Trail, just outside Tuolumne, California, has been enjoyed by local residents and visitors for many years.
